Tending to the Homeless Children's Network Community

When Amy Carmenatty steps into Homeless Children's Network's (HCN) Bayview office each morning, she starts her workday by checking email inquiries. Yet, her role extends far beyond standard record-keeping and checklists. Instead, she sees herself as a vital connector across the entire organization, weaving relationships between diverse teams, supporting complex operational demands, and helping HCN stay aligned with state and federal standards while responding to daily staff needs.

With a public health background, Amy brings a holistic mindset to Human Resources. For her, employee care is about nurturing the people who carry out our mission. She is invested in each staff member's journey and stays mindful of how their well-being directly impacts families and the surrounding community. By keeping humanity at the center of her work, HCN remains grounded in empathy, dignity, and active listening.

Deep Roots in San Francisco

Born and raised in San Francisco, Amy was drawn to HCN three years ago while exploring local non-profits. She was inspired by our commitment to culturally responsive care and its deep-seated mission of compassion for families experiencing housing instability. She recognizes the critical importance of representation and community-informed care, viewing HR as an essential foundation that empowers frontline staff to do their best work.

Outside of her role at HCN, Amy finds joy and balance in the warmth of San Francisco’s late-summer climate. Whether she is riding her bike to the beach, volunteering at a local urban farm, savoring fresh seasonal peaches, or preparing to host family and friends for the upcoming holidays, she approaches life with the same spirit of warmth and grounded sense of community that define her professional practice.
