Kuamka Community Healing Arts Program

The Kuamka Community Healing Arts Program trains and supports Black/African American artists and therapists to facilitate healings arts groups throughout San Francisco. In Swahili, Kuamka means “to awaken,” or “the awakening”. The intention is that each artist will awaken a new healing both within themselves and the community with their unique expression of creativity.

The Vision: Awaken new pathways to healing through community storytelling and creative expression.

"Now is the time to deepen the daily commitment among partners, work heart to heart with all aspects of the community in mind, align our strategies of transformation, and author our future with programming, ideas, services, and resources—all
that will be sustained for generations to come!"

- Dr. Silas
