Homeless Children's Network (HCN) is proud to announce its groundbreaking Hair Care series, a set of free workshops designed to celebrate and explore the rich cultural heritage and significance of Black hair. This unique event aims to transcend the usual discussions about hair care, delving into the deep-rooted cultural connections and mental health aspects intertwined with Black hair.


Workshop Series Overview


The Hair Care series is more than just a set of workshops; it's a journey through the resilience and beauty embedded in Black hair care traditions. Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand the Cultural Roots: Through engaging discussions, the workshops will explore how Black hair care practices reflect resilience and cultural identity.

  • Confront Stigmas: The series will address various stigmas and challenges related to Black hair, fostering an environment of understanding and support.

  • Learn Practical Hair Care Skills: From detangling to basic barbering techniques, braiding, and flat ironing, attendees will acquire valuable hair styling tips.

  • Receive a Free Hairstyle: In a grand finale, participants will be treated to a free hairstyle session by expert stylists.
