Ma’at Youth Leadership Committee members build skills by creating and offering positive leadership opportunities for youth ages 12-18 overcoming instability and/or trauma in their lives. We offer a middle school group and a high school group. Through monthly meetings, required field work, peer mentoring and collaboration, they improve their community and - along the way - themselves.
Activities include group and individual outreach, monthly leadership and planning activities, creating an administering a needs assessment survey, and supporting services for their communities. Members gain skills in communication, teamwork, goal setting and time management, self-care, critical thinking, analysis, self-advocacy, and community involvement. These skills also help them explore their future, including education, employment, and stable housing.
