The expected programmatic outcome is to decrease the traumas of homelessness and domestic violence on children, youth, and their families; as well as to strengthen the effectiveness of the HCN Collaborative, and to provide child care consultation to shelter-based child care centers. We accomplish our mission by providing the following services:
Family Counseling:
the outcome will provide effective communication between family members,
thereby learning to cope more efficiently with the traumas of homelessness
and domestic violence.
Play and Talk Therapy:
the outcome will give physically/emotionally/sexually abused children
and opportunity to work through their traumas and reduce the risk of recycling
abusive behaviors.
Parent-Child Counseling: the outcome
will provide positive child-rearing skills.
Parenting Groups: the outcome
will increase the parent's confidence and competence in their parenting
skills.
Case Management: the outcome will
provide resources and referrals, which are designed to enhance the sense
of connection for the family to knowledge of community resources.
Child Care Consultation: the outcome
will provide support/consultation to child care centers serving homeless
children ages 0-5.
After Care Services: the outcome
will provide services for formerly homeless families to help them continue
on the road to independence and stability.
Literacy and Communications Center:
the outcome will provide homeless families with technical resources
and additional educational support as a supplement to traditional schooling.
Advocacy Support: the outcome will provide city/state wide
advocacy for homeless children and their families.
