Homeless Children’s Network History & Mission

Since 1992, HCN has been providing comprehensive mental health services, case management, early childhood mental health consultation, education, aftercare, and family support services to over 2,000 homeless children, youth, parents, and providers. On behalf of a 35-member collaborative, HCN provides a forum for networking, education, mental health referrals, and shared resources for homeless service providers. 

HCN’s mission is to decrease the trauma of homelessness and domestic violence; and to provide strength-based, family-family focused and culturally-appropriate prevention and intervention services to children, youth, parents, and families; and to increase the strength and effectiveness of HCN’s collaborative efforts; HCN provides comprehensive on-site mental health, family support, community development and education, and early childhood mental health consultation services for homeless children, youth, and their and families at emergency, domestic violence and transitional shelters, as well as single room occupancy hotels (SROs), schools, childcare centers, and permanent supportive housing sites.
